@Peggy Cartwright: Thank you for your kind comment. It is nice to see that people the world over appreciate the subtleties of Nancy Mitford's writing!

Nancy Mitford is one of my favourite writers, but then, I was brought up on English novels by a mother who was very fond of England and the English. Of course, I am almost of the same generation as Nancy, and my older sister looked exactly like her, as did my mother. (Oddly enough, my sister was married to William Herron Rodd III, a distant relative of Nancy's husband, Peter Rodd.) And, I am at this very moment rereading "Love in a Cold Climate" having just finished "The Blessing," so I was very pleased to find another person who loves Nancy's work. I also just ordered her book of essays from ABEbooks, as I have never read the 'hon' story, although I have read of it.
I might add that I come from a family headed by a mother who had a degree in English (as I also have) and made sure we had a love for language by directing our reading and also playing word games. I am from a pre-TV family which made its own entertainment.
